A Hair Incident!

As I was making breakfast yesterday morning I looked at Lexi and realized that she was taking control of her hairstyle all by herself. Anyone who knows Lex knows that she hasn't let me cut her hair for over a year! She has been very proud of her long hair that she insists looks like Hannah Montana's. Yes she is a huge fan. Apparently she was ready for a change. She took the scissors to the front of her hair. So an emergency haircut was in need, thank you Hayley! Here's a picture of Lexi's work. You can't really tell but she really chopped off the front right side and she 'layered' the left side!

And here is after Hayley worked her magic! She looks so grownup now!

He's Here!!

Yesterday April 15th at 1:35pm Simon Earl Sorensen entered this world! We are so excited to welcome him to our family. He weighed in at 8lbs 3oz. and was 20 inches long. He was 6days late and absolutely perfect!
I had to go the induction route. My doctor wouldn't let me go any longer. I went in at 7 in the morning and they got me started at 8am. 5 1/2 hours later he was here! Alexia and Rayden came up to see him later that afternoon and were so excited. They couldn't get enough of holding him.

They were both upset when it was time to go home with Dad and they had to leave us behind. Lexi was cheered though when we reminded her she got to go to preschool the next day and tell her class about her new brother.

We came home today. It is so nice to be home! (I'm not one for sitting in the hospital.) Lexi and Ray are already being such big helpers and making sure that Mom and Dad are taking care of baby Simon the right way. He is already getting spoiled by those two!

Here is the first family photo with our newest addition! Don't you just love my fashionable hospital gown?!

Turning 5

She's growing up too fast! Lexi turned 5 this weekend and I was feeling really sentimental about it. Five years couldn't have possibly passed by so fast! Wasn't I just holding her in my arms as an infant? Well I guess five years have gone by and they have been wonderful with a daughter like Lex.
Originally for her birthday I told Lexi that we weren't going to do anything but hang out as a family because of baby Simon. She was totally fine with that most of the time. Other times she would ask me my opinion on this or that kind of party for her birthday. I would remind her that she wasn't going to have a party this year and she would say, 'Oh yeah, Simon's going to be born.' I was feeling guilty about this so we compromised this year. Lexi was allowed to invite 2 friends to go with her to dinner the night before her birthday. Here is the cute little group.

This is the only picture I got of all 4 kids together. They had so much fun! We went to Firehouse which is Lexi's favorite restaurant. After dinner we went back to our house and watched Alvin and the Chipmunks! This is now a favorite in our family. Thank you Ady and Nicole for making Lexi's birthday party so special!

Saturday Dirk and I weren't really going to do anything. I didn't buy a birthday cake because there seemed no point. I would be the only one who ate it. We had a Fh'zookie at Firehouse that Lexi was content to call her 'cake.' Dirk wanted to get Lexi a new scooter for her birthday so we took her shopping so she could pick it out herself. She spent the rest of that cold windy morning cruising around the cul-de-sac on it. We had lunch at my sister, Liesl's, house inbetween conference sessions. We ended up back at her house that night. Her and her girls made this awesome birthday cake for Lexi!

This is the first cake Lexi has had survive long enough for a decent picture. Nobody smashed it!

Alexia I just want you to know how special you are to me and Dad. We love you so much! Thanks for being the awesome big sister that you are to Rayden. He looks up to you and you are a great example to him! I hope this year brings you many wonderful experiences to help you grow into the fabulous woman I know you will be someday.

PS For all of you checking the blog everyday hoping for some baby news and pics, all I have to say is "Ha!" Simon doesn't believe it is spring yet I think. He is happily cocooned in a nice warm place and doesn't want to come out! My doctor is going out of town for spring break so he will probably come this week. If he isn't here by the 15th I think we might decide to force his hand! So hopefully you will all be seeing pics of him in the next week!

Mutual Night

I know it's been awhile since I last posted. My only excuse is I have been exhausted lately!

Last night our ward's Young Women and Young Men had the privelege of hosting the Special Needs Mutual. We did this two years ago and the kids loved it! They were all so excited to get to do this again. We started out our night with a magic show that our bishop performed. The special needs people loved it and some of them spent there time trying to figure out all the tricks. We originally were going to stop there but the show ran a little short so we brought in some music. I love how they have so much fun being together. Since I was having contractions all through the night I didn't join in the dancing but I did get some pictures of our ward dancing it up and having a great time!

Sorry the images aren't the best. The gym was kind of dark and I don't have the best camera!
Everyone doing the YMCA!

The girl in the brown and white shirt had amazing rhythm! I wish I could have videoed some of her dance "routine." Our girls loved her and couldn't get enough of dancing with her.

This picture is of my friend Britney starting the dancing conga line! She told me I had to delete this picture and I told her it was going on my blog. That's right Brit you set the challenge and I am picking up the gauntlet!

Can I just say how much I love my calling with the youth! I am really going to miss it when we all get released!
