Halloween Fun

Shocking as this may be I have pictures of my kids in their costumes! They had so much fun last night at the Halloween Carnival. I didn't get to do much with them then because I was in charge of one of the booths, but tonight I got to watch them head out trick or treating with their Dad. They were so excited. Rayden just couldn't wait to get all that candy and Lexi wanted to be able to go to the door all by herself!
It wasn't until I really looked at this picture that I realized that they both tilted their heads. What goofballs!
Lexi went to sleep last night on her hair like that after the carnival. It was still standing this morning. She had a party at preschool and then went to play with some friends. I had to fix the braids but that was really it! Hairspray can work wonders.

New Floor!

I am so excited! Dirk and I bought our new floor for the living room yesterday! We got a steal of a deal on some hardwood cherry floor. It is absolutely gorgeous! Now for the next couple of weeks we will be ripping up the carpet and the tile in the entry, sanding the floor, and preparing to lay. I can't wait for the finished product! You know I will post a pic when it is all said and done!

Redemption

That is the name of Dirk's new airplane! He was able to purchase this weekend and he is really excited to take it off and see how it flies. This is a biplane that is suppose to be a trick plane. He won't be taking it off until he is sure everything is set up correctly. So far he is really impressed with how well built it is. I hope that is a good sign!

Dirk is planning on changing the paint job to just yellow with checkered flags on on the edge of the wings and maybe a racing stripe or something like that.

Thursday's Adventure

Per Sarah's request I get to post about Dirk's and my adventure last night. We went out to the pumpkin farm to get a load of pumpkins for Lee's. We were so proud of ourselves for actually finding a trailer load! (Pickin's are slim these days.) Well on our way out of the field Dirk noticed that we had a flat tire on the trailer. Now it wasn't kind of flat, it was as flat as flat can be! So we tried to call Nate, no answer. So I call Sarah and pretty much say, "HELP!" Well Sarah was at Lee's so she had to get home first. While I am talking to her Nate calls Dirk. He was too far away to help so it is left up to Sarah for our rescue. I offered to call Brett Knight to have him get the air compressor loaded for Sarah so she could get the girls loaded and head home, then once she is home switch the car seats to the truck and head out. Well I called Brett's house, no answer. Then I called his cell, no answer. Where the heck is everybody!!! Then Dirk had the great idea to head to, I think, Brett Jensen's house down the street and see if he could help. So he disconnects the trailer and heads over. He isn't home either!!!!!! He came back and hooked the trailer up. Sarah calls me again because she remembered she has a smaller air tank that she can throw in the Blazer and head out. YES!! We were finally making headway for going home. So we sat in the truck and waited. While waiting Dirk decided to see if he can find the leak. We somehow had managed to almost rip the valve stem off of the tire! So then we were worried that we might not make it back to Smithfield without having to fill the tire a few times. We asked Sarah to follow us to the weigh station to weigh the pumpkins just in case. We actually made it there fine and were able to deliver the load to Lee's, where Steve from produce looked at me funny when I took the book in. I guess I don't look like Nate! Anyway we ended getting home about an hour after we thought we would, but at least we made it. I guess it is sad to say that is the most adventure we have had in our lives for awhile, but it was an adventure!
Since I don't have a picture of last night how about a picture of Lexi sleeping with a pumpkin. She did actually fall asleep last night but this was taken before that.

Also thanks everybody for the compliments on the blog. Hayley was the one to point the way and it turned out to be easier then I thought. She has created a monster in me though. I can't stop surfing the net for new backgrounds, so if it changes every once in awhile don't be too surprised!

Another little note to share. I am moderating my comments for awhile to make sure I don't get any more of those annoying spam comments. I got 2 this week!!! So it might take awhile for your comments to show up but they will.

Doctor's Appointment #3

Even though I am on my third pregnancy I still get excited when I get to go to an appointment. I just love to hear the baby's heartbeat and know that everything is going good. The down side is that they have to weigh me each time. Despite the fact that I feel I am doing great I always weigh in more than I was thinking. No I am not going to post my weight for the whole world to see. Today's appointment was just a standard checkup and not too exciting. Everything is doing great. The highlight was getting schedule my 20 week ultrasound. I was hoping to get to do it before Thanksgiving since that is when I will be 20 weeks but I wasn't sure if I would be able. Well they got me in for November 13th which is only 3 weeks away! I know it is silly to be so excited but I am! I am sure Lexi and Rayden will be excited to come since they have been talking about what gender the baby is. Those two have made this pregnancy the absolute best for me. I love when they "hug" the "baby" or give "kisses" to the baby. They are going to be awesome older siblings and they make this time so special!
Just because it doesn't seem like a post without a picture here is a picture taken of me last Thursday.

Once again our family headed out in the night to the Pumpkin Walk last night. Lexi couldn't wait to show off her pumpkin she had made in preschool. She kept telling us that it was wearing her old clothes and had her name on it.
The weather was actually perfect. It wasn't very cold at all and the rain stayed away while we were there. It didn't take very long to go see all the pumpkins and Rayden couldn't get enough of them. He is a little bit of a pumpkin fanatic lately. It couldn't be because of all those trips to the pumpkin farm lately could it?
Here is a picture of the little guy with his cousin Ethan. Ray loved the witch's crow and thought it was great fun to pet the "bird." Ethan wasn't so sure. The funniest part was that Rayden wasn't afraid of the witch but he was afraid of the ladies at the end who were handing out cookies. They weren't even in costumes! He such an unpredictable boy sometimes.

Our Superhero!

Yesterday I finally got around to buying Rayden's Halloween costume. When we first bought it he threw a royal fit that he didn't like it and didn't want to wear it. When we got home I decided to try the costume/pajama's on him to see how they fit. He screamed. He kicked. He tried to undress himself. I finally got it on him and guess what happened? He won't take it off!

He loves the belt on the front and he loves the detachable cape on the back. He has been running around the house all day yelling, "I'm Superman!" At least I don't have to worry about him wearing Halloween I just have to worry about him wearing it out before then.

Another One Bites the Dust

Another one bites the dust Queen

This music video is honor of Dirk's latest loss of his gas airplane this evening. Here also is a outline of the life of his gasser plane.

From the day he got the engine we have had some stress, like when he tried to cut off his fingers with his redneck setup! Thanks Brett you are partly to blame, J/K!

Here is with our friend and neighbor Brett Knight putting the plane together earlier this summer while camping at Franklin Basin. Good times, good times.

This is the only picture we have of the completed plane with its #1 fan, Jace. We must remember the fun we had.

Here is the plane after its tragic end this evening. Amazingly all of the electronics and the engine (which was found 150 feet from the plane) survived the crash. The men took their time to scour Bruce Godderidges field to find all of the parts. So it is just the body that we lay to rest, eventually.

Weekend of Camping

Dirk and I hadn't done anything alone for awhile so we decided to go camping in the canyon this past weekend. We dropped the kids off at my sister Liesl's house and headed up. The weather report called for nothing but cold weather and rain and snow. We weren't deterred. We took the camper to Guinavah campground and found a beautiful campsite next to the river and the mountain. Even though it was raining on Saturday, Dirk and I put on our rain ponchos and headed up the nature trails and took some beautiful pictures of the fall colors. We were able to come back and have some hot chocolate and watch some of our favorite movies that we don't get to watch a whole lot. It was a great couple of days of being together and not having anything to worry about. It was nice to come home though and pick up the kids. It was great to know that they missed us and being able to hang out as a family and watch conference.
Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the colors and the crisp smell in the air!

My Birthday

So I have to say that my husband loves me. He spoiled me this year for my birthday. I woke up to a vase of beautiful flowers on the kitchen counter. Lexi had bought me some cucumber lotion that she kept asking me if I liked. When Dirk came home he told me there was more to my birthday present. He had my last name printed on my scriptures for me which is something I have wanted done for the last 7 years. Then he bought me the hymns on cd. He really does understand my love for music. He took me and the kids to dinner at Chili's. Then we went to Sam's Club where he bought me a DVD Recorder so I can dub all of our home videos to dvds and he bought me a new set of kitchen cookware.
I don't think I can or would complain about anything! He spent way to much money but I know he did it because of how much he loves me and the kids. He has been super sweet anyway since we found out I was pregnant. He does small things around the house that might normally be missed but I have found them since he also does a lot of big things lately like vacuum the entire house once a week for me so I don't have to carry the vacuum up and down the stairs. So now I have bragged about my wonderful husband and if by chance he actually reads this he might actually blush!
