Kids are Wonderful!

There are times when I am so very thankful for my two wonderful kids. I've never wished I never had them but there are days I am especially greatful for my two munchkins. Today is one of those days. I love watching them interact. This morning they were playing school. Lexi was teaching Rayden his letters. Of course to him most of his letters are "T." They overheard me talkng to Dirk about all the things I want to accomplish today and they have decided to help. Lexi cleaned up the kitchen counter. She put dishes in the sink and toys to rooms and even put away laundry. Now to some that might not seem strange but Lexi is not my clean child. She likes everything around her in disarray. Every time I sit down Rayden will come and cover my belly with his most beloved blanket. He keeps telling me to keep Baby Simon warm. I love how they watch out for me and each other. How could I possibly want anymore out of life then my happy kids?

My Obsession!

So I was talking to Hayley last night and I told her how I haven't had anything to post for this week. There really hasn't been anything going on around here! Then we got talking about books. I started the Twighlight series books on Friday and haven't been able to put them down. A few of you may know what I mean because I know you have been reading them too. I finished the second book Sunday night/Monday morning at 2:30 am. I couldn't put the thing down once I got to a certain point in the story and night time is the only time the kids don't need me! I am going crazy because I really really want to read the 3rd book but I don't have it! I ordered it online but I still have to wait a week until it arrives. This is probably time I should be catching up on housework and Christmas things, which I am trying to do. So I guess this post is really about how I am an obsessive reader and when I find a good book I can't stop reading. This series is pretty much on the same level as my Harry Potter obsession. So now you all know how crazy I am and if you are looking for a good book you really should read these!

Two Posts in One

So we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We got to have two Thanksgivings this year. We first went to Dirk's parents for lunch where almost everyone was there. We missed you Jake, Melese, and Jace! We also went to my sister's house to have dinner with my family. The missionaries came to that dinner, gosh we've being seeing a lot of those guys lately! We also set up our Christmas decorations this weekend. Dirk even bought new lights for the house AND put them up. The kids had a blast decorating the tree. Most of the ornaments made it to the bottom of the tree. Lex and Ray got pretty inventive of how to hang ornaments that the hooks had fallen off of!

Now for my other big news this weekend. Some of you guys know how I have been fighting with Rayden over the whole potty training thing! He hates to wear his diapers but refuses to go on the potty. We have had screaming, hair pulling fits over this. Well every morning as I am changing his diaper, again, I ask if he wants to go potty. I am so used to hearing "no" that on Saturday morning when he said "yes" I about fell over! I rushed him in to the potty and sure enough he went! Something clicked with him and now he tells me when he needs to go and only had an accident during his nap! He even woke me up at 11pm last night to tell me he had to go potty. He even woke up dry this morning! I swear it must have decided to start going only because I bought a new box of diapers Friday! Oh well I will put them away for the baby!

Here is my little man closing the lid after flushing down the "yucky" water!

Missionary Discussion

Last night we had the missionaries and the two teenage girls who live next door over for the girls' first missionary discussion. We were very excited to be included in such a wonderful event. It was amazing to sit in and listen as these two learned about things that I have always taken for granted or felt was "common knowledge." We listened as the missionaries discussed Jesus' life and explain what big"scripture" words meant. I guess when you sit down and think about it you don't realize that not everyone knows about the prophets in the bible and what they did. We also went over the restoration of the gospel and talked about Joseph Smith. It was a wonderful experience to share our testimonies about what we believe and to feel the spirit that was in the room. That is another thing that I guess I take for granted. The girls didn't really know how to explain what they felt or what it exactly was. As I sat there and listened I realize that I could feel the spirit but I also always have a part of that with me. I guess that what I am saying is that it was an eye opener to realize that I always get to carry a piece of that peace with me that is confirmation to me that I know what I believe, I know where I am going, and that I have a purpose in this life. You sometimes forget that others around you may not have this. I am extremely grateful that I was able to be apart of this experience. I don't know if the girls will continue with discussions or not. If nothing else was accomplished from last nights meeting at least I was able to remember how blessed I am. With Thanksgiving tomorrow I am going to try to set aside the excitement of all that food, hard being pregnant and all, and reflect on my many blessings and my family around me. Maybe I will even be able to sit Lexi and Ray down for a little lesson that they might retain for longer then a couple of hours!

The Floor is In!!

Dirk started to lay the floor last night. By midnight we weren't sure if he was going to be able to get the floor done by the end of tonight. Well he got up bright and early and this afternoon he finished laying the wood! It looks wonderful! The kids have already taken to sliding down the hall and pulling each other on their blankets around the room. We still have to put up our baseboards and get an area rug for the middle of the room but it already looks great to me!

The Verdict is In!

Well we made it back from the doctor's office. I know some of you have been waiting and thinking I would never get this up but we went out to eat after the ultrasound, sorry. Click the link below to find out what the result was! If you aren't a puzzle person there is an auto solve option on the side. Have fun!

Today is The Day!!

WooHoo! Today at 4pm we are going in for our big ultrasound! We are all excited to find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl. Lexi can't wait and has been helping clean because she told me the baby wants the house all cleaned up, (it couldn't be because I told she could only come along if she cleaned her room.) So today we will be on pins and needles until this afternoon when we head in. I am so excited I just had to post! Stay tuned for a later update!

The Mom Song

My sister emailed this to me and I thought it was absolutely hilarious! I am so guilty of some of the things said here and probably more as my kids get older!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Rayden! He turned the big 3 this weekend! We had a quiet day at home since Lexi spent the morning sick. She was fine by the afternoon so hopefully it was just something she ate. Rayden wanted a "Mack" cake but Mom isn't quite artistic enough to pull that off. Grandma and Grandpa went and bought him this chocolate cake and Daddy placed a brand new Semi on top for him. He loved it! He got lots of awesome presents for his big day but I think he enjoyed his lego set the most. Dad and him put it together and he had a blast playing with all the cars it made!
