Hail To A Prophet

Like so many others I too wanted to express my love for President Hinckley. He was someone I have always looked up to and we will miss him greatly. Our family was saddened by the loss of such a great man yet at the same time I almost wish I could have been in the heavens to see the rejoicing that was happening as he returned home. You could not have heard him speak or be in his vicinity without feeling his love for the gospel and all those around him. He was truly one in a million!

Slow Month

It is amazing how slow January is for us! I feel like I never have anything to post. So don't fear that I have given up the blogging thing because I still love it. I just don't have anything interesting to put up. This weekend we have tried to make it a family fun weekend. Lexi wanted to go to a movie last night but there wasn't anything playing that we found interesting so instead we went bowling. It was cosmic bowling night and Lexi thought that was funny. She kept pointing out everybody's white. We had a lot of fun until Rayden smashed his finger between two bowling balls and refused to play anymore. Letting him get a toy out of the 25cent machine did wonders though to fix his owie. We then went home and watched a movie with lots of buttery popcorn.
Today Dirk went to a tradeshow in Salt Lake with my brother-in-law. So this morning was a lazy morning with the kids. We spent a good portion of it playing online with Lexi's Webkinz. All I can say is that site can get addicting even for me! We had lots of fun adding a kitchen to her puppy's "house." Dirk got home around 2pm and we went into Logan to buy some stuff for the nursery. I am hoping to get the final touches done this week so I don't have to stress about things not getting done in time. I know I still have 2 months but I like it to be done way in advance.
Like I said Dirk and I are leading some pretty boring lives right now. There isn't anything to interesting but I didn't want anyone thinking we had disappeared. Sorry I have no pictures to post either. Maybe this week the kids will do something cute that I can post/boast about!

Growing Up!

Alexia is in her second year of Preschool and can't wait for Kindergarten! She loves to learn. By the end of last year she knew all of her letters and their sounds. This year she has really been trying to sound out words and start to read. Yesterday when I picked her up from school her teacher came out to talk to me. She has started Lexi on beginning reader books! She told me that Lexi has been sounding out words at school too and that she feels that she should start these books. Lexi is so excited and has made some really good headway on the first book! I wanted to get a video of her reading this morning but she decided to be camera shy. Maybe when she feels a little more confident!I just can't get over the fact that my 4 year old is starting to read! They grow up way too fast!

Belly Shot!

I haven't posted a picture of me in awhile but Sunday night Dirk took a new picture of the growing belly! So this is me at 27 weeks 4 days along! Thanks Melese for telling me how small I am because I don't always feel small. You made my night!

Snow Play!

Saturday Dirk had to dig our camper out of the side driveway. We needed to take it in for some warranty fixes. The kids love to help him dig in the snow. They found some big snow balls and attempted to build their own snowman.

After Dirk was done digging (thanks Dave for the four wheeler!) it was time to have some fun! Him and Rayden decided to make a snow hut. They had so much fun piling the snow high. Rayden came running in the house to tell me I had to see what they were making. I missed the picture oppurtunity of Dirk inside the hut digging it out but I did get some fun shots of Rayden inside!

Rest of 2007 and Starting 2008

Dirk had the 26th off of work. Him and Rayden hung out with Grandpa at the Hobby Shop then played with airplanes. Lexi and I went to the theater with Grandma and Grandpa to see Enchanted. It was a really cute show that Lexi wants to go see again.

On the 27th my sister Liesl and I drove to Ogden to spend the night so we could be with my mom on Friday for my father's surgery. So Friday I spent the entire day sitting in waiting rooms waiting for updates throughout his surgery. Despite the fact that it doesn't sound like much it made me extremely tired! I'm glad we were there to distract my mom. It was a long day. We drove home in a snow storm that evening but it wasn't that bad. My kids stayed with Liesl's kids and husband and didn't seem to notice that I was gone at all! To wrap up my father's story. He was doing so good after his surgery that they let him come home 3 days early. He came home yesterday instead of waiting until Saturday. We are glad he is home and hope for as speedy a recovery as can be expected.

New Year's Eve we spent at Liesl and Travis' house. My kids actually stayed up past midnight despite the many attempts to put them to bed. They slept forever on New Year's Day. We lounged around and didn't do much the next day. It was the perfect way to end our holidays.

Yesterday Lexi had a birthday party for Taya Ballard. I don't have any pictures because Ashley's camera batteries died so I gave her the ones out of my camera so she could get somes pictures. They went bowling and both her and Rayden did it all by themselves. As sad as this is to say Lexi got a higher score then I usually get. She got a 94! She had a blast.

So as you all can see I should have kept up on my blogging but we were having so much fun with Dirk home so much that I didn't touch the computer. Now we have to get back to life as we know it. Hope everyone had great holiday season and wishing you all luck in this New Year!!

Christmas Day

Christmas Day started very early for us. It was about 5am when Dirk and I woke up. We are as bad as little kids. We went and got the kids up by telling them Santa had come. That is all it took for both of them to pop right up. Lexi was more excited for Rayden and what Santa brought him to even notice what Santa had left her! They had so much fun playing with their new gifts. It took them awhile to get to the ones under the tree. They spent the whole morning playing with their new toys.

So any other Dixon's out their who think this picture looks like Ilse? I couldn't find a good comparison picture. Maybe it is just the fact that Lex is sporting the double lip look Ilse was famous for!

Ray and his new monster truck. He had to take this to Nate and Sarah's house for breakfast. We had the annual breakfast at their house this year instead of ours.

In the afternoon we went to my parent's house. The first thing Rayden wanted to do when we got there was to start up the trains with Pop. So my father and Dirk got them going. Rayden loves to sit and stare at the trains and Pop had a new one up just for Ray!

We had a great time with the family opening presents and spending time with Pop before he went back to Ogden for his surgery. Needless to say we all went to bed a little earlier then usual.

Christmas Eve 2007

Despite the fact that we had the Sorensen party early Dirk and I took the kids to his parents' house on Christmas Eve anyway. Most of Dirk's family showed up and even his cousin's family was there. Of course this would be the day that I forget my camera at home! We were the last to leave. Lexi insisted on bringing their Christmas Eve presents to Grandmas's house. Since we were the last there we let them open them up with Grandma and Grandpa. They got their Christmas jammies and had to change into them immediately. They both slept in Dirk's and my bed that night while we continued our tradition of sleeping under the tree. The kids actually went to bed fairly quickly to our surprise. They are so precious!

Sorensen Christmas Party

The Sorensen Christmas Party was at Rex and Lyn's house in Midway this year. Since most of the family had to drive the two hours to their house we decided to move the party from Christmas Eve to the 22nd. This worked for Dirk and me as we were able to take my Mom to the Ogden hospital to spend the day with Pop and the kids got to take him his birthday present. We then spent the day with Dirk's family. Rex took some of us for a ride around Midway to see the "sights." We saw lots of deer and huge houses. We went back to the house and the family played quite a few roucous games of spoons! This has become a family favorite. I am not allowed to play because no one wants me to get hurt and yes people do! I get designated to take all the pictures for everybody so some of the best shots were not taken with my camera, like the one of one of the brothers flying across the table after a stray spoon! The kids had a great time playing together. I don't think Dirk and I saw Lexi until it was present time. She and the other 2 girl cousins stayed locked away in Mady's room all day. After present time we had to go to get my mom from the hospital and head home.

Happy Birthday Pop

Well I don't know how happy his birthday is but I wanted to wish him the best possible day he can have. For those who know and also for those who haven't heard yet my father is spending his birthday in McKaydee Hospital in Ogden. Wednesday he had a major heart attack and was sent down there for his care. He is doing fine but is bored stiff. He has to stay flat on his back and not get excited which means he can't have very many visitors, yuck! The bright spot to his day is he is getting to come home for the Christmas holiday. We had to cancel our party to keep him calm but we are looking forward to having him home. He has to go back Wednesday/Thursday for a Triple Bypass Surgery. Three of his main arteries are clogged and they have to go in and fix that. Once that is done he will be in bed for 3-4 weeks while his sternum heals. They said it will take him four months to be back to normal and then he should be around for another 30-40 years to harass us all. (Pop's words not mine.) So here is looking at the positive and being glad that he can come home! We are heading down to see him pretty much right now with the kids. So thank you all who have called and checked on me. I appreciate it tons. Here also is hoping that you all have a great holiday season!
